It's a convenient way to refer to a message. For example, on the wiki,
you can say RubyTalk:12345 and it generates a hyperlink to the
message.

However, does the number need to be in the subject line? I don't
know. From what I've seen of Outlook, it's a pita to get at X-
headers.
