the latter.  i hate typing!  ;-)

actually, read with those __default__ options.  so

   def FCSV.table opts = {}

     ....

     headers = opts[:headers] || opts['headers'] || true
     converters = opts[:converters] || opts['converters'] || :converters

     ....

   end
