While I'm still strongly opposed to the idea, there is another good 
argument for having this feature: it would allow the interpreter to do some 
optimization in the cases where this is used.

I think a better solution to your problem is a script analysis tool, like 
-w, only more in depth... perhaps a '-wall' for Ruby, that would tell you 
about the assumptions the interpreter is making.

IE, make a tool to solve the problem, don't make the language and the 
interpreter more complex.
