Subject: [ruby-talk:22661] Announcement: PCSC-ruby 0.1

I'd like to announce a Ruby extension for the PC/SC Lite API:

PC/SC Lite is a Smartcard development architecture for most
Unix type operating systems. It allows easy porting of Windows
smartcard software to other operating systems. It supports many
types of serial, PCMCIA, and USB smartcard readers and
cryptographic tokens. You can download it from

This extension has been tested on FreeBSD 4.4 with
Ruby 1.6.5 and PC/SC Lite for UNIX 1.0.0B. Generally,
it should work on any platform where Ruby and
PC/SC Lite do.

The documentation is included in the distribution.

A FreeBSD port of pcsc-lite 1.0.0B will follow soon
(unless someone has already done it). I will also
submit a FreeBSD port for this Ruby extension.
