Sorry, I tried to post an update but it didn't appear in google yet. The problem only arises when the second class is actually empty. I found the problem with an Exception class like this: class SomeException < RuntimeError end I checked with the current version of ruby-mode.el from the snapshot tarball, too. My GNU Emacs isn't setup at all and I definitely won't go through that *grin* I'd rather patch ruby-mode to work with this, but I'll wait for a while to see whether someone has got a solution already.
