If it will execute any program that will execute on Matz's interpreter, why on earth should it /not/ be called Ruby? Should JRuby be changed to "Amethyst" because it's not Matz's One True interpreter? How does porting the interpreter to a new platform cause it to be a new language? FWIW, I wish I knew more than jack-squat about coding compilers, 'cause then I'd do my best to help out with a .NET port. I pretty much detest MS, it's products and behaviour; but it's clear to me that without such an interpreter, I have a vastly smaller chance of ever being able to use Ruby for serious work in a corporate environment.
