The article is "Exception Handling in Kylix" by Eli Boling and Chuck Jazdzewski. Kylix is the Linux version of Borland's Delphi. Both authors are working for Borland. The authors make a plea to language developers to morph their backend exception handling to a form that would allow better portability and support of multiple languages over multiple platforms through more standardization of the backend exception processing. Seems like a worthy goal. The web site cited in the article is the FreeCLX project (http://freeclx.sourceforge.net/) I don't know whether Ruby's backend exception processing needs anything like this, but the article was a very interesting read.
