There is also Digital Mars C/C++ (Walter Bright - responsible for Symantec C++): http://www.digitalmars.com/ A beta of the Microsoft VC++ compiler is currently freely available in the .NET beta 2 SDK although this is the standard edition which does not perform optimisation. Beta 1 of the .NET SDK had a beta of the full compiler. The Visual Studio IDE is also available in a beta form on cover CDs - I got my copy from MSDN magazine but it was also available on at least one other magazine. Here is an URL for the 127 Meg .NET download - unwrap the URL before use: http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?url=/downloads/sample.asp?ur l=/msdn-files/027/000/976/msdncompositedoc.xml Neil
