In my attempts to download cygwin my experience was quite different. I had
to select between hundreds of option in an install environment - it wasn't
clear which version of each component to choose. It wansn't clear what I
needed and didn't need. The more I chose - the higher the risc that the
download would terminate prematurely and let me start over again.
Over time, I have several times tried to get it - but gave up.
Recently I succeeded but only because I really needed it to work with a Ruby
module.

I too hate rebooting btw.
