Quick update: output from dependency walker looks the same, only mentions
one unresolved import that "may or may not be an error" (on both systems,
see below). 

I've got all the libraries you mentioned, Lyle.

To make things worse, 1.6.4-3 works right out of the box on my computer at
home (also XP, the non-working one is my office comp).

Either one of the programs (eg games) at home installed a library (diff.
version perhaps) thats makes FXRuby work or something I've installed on my
office comp broke something.

I'm going to check this on a clean XP installation.

The truth is out there ;)
