Not even from 8.5 will Tk default to the Tile theme. Reading into related documents deeper, Tile doesn't support / use Gtk or Qt native rendering under *nix. Which makes Tk slower and less complete at achieving native fidelity than Swing. I almost wouldn't have believed that possible.
