Subject: how can i install ruby in ubuntu

hi all
   i use "sudo apt-get install ruby1.8 irb1.8 rdoc1.8" install ruby in
ubuntu ,but after success install , i input " ruby -v " , prompt "
bash:ruby command not found", why ??
  need other config??
