From: Todd Gillespie Date: 2001-09-16T01:18:40+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:21217] ANN: ns_ruby-0.2.1 ns_ruby[0], the project to interpret Ruby code within Aolserver[1] has reached version 0.2.1, which is a totally arbitrary way of saying it has reached an initial state of useability. There are thus far only 3 classes of the several needed to expose the full power of nsd (Aolserver), they handle Ns_Set (the collection class), Ns_Conn (the active HTTP connection), and Ns_Db (interface to the DB connection pool). Proceeding[2] in short order, I will expose the cache, templates, filters, and URL-registered procs. [0] The tarball for ns_ruby is at http://www.toddbrandlabs.com/code/. [1] Aolserver, or nsd as the binary is called, is a GPL'ed threaded webserver that serves some of the busiest sites in the world. It's fast; so fast, we don't have a suitable simile yet... An introduction to nsd can be found at http://www.arsdigita.com/asj/aolserver/introduction-1 [2] In the long term, well, the OpenACS guys have worked out calling methods written in Java or Python in Tcl -- we should get into some of that.
