Just output the encoded / compressed byte stream the image manipulation library of choice can surely provide to the HTTP connection? Setting the MIME type of the response accordingly. You might want to look up hacks on how to do efficient byte-pushing for this, standard Ruby IO might or might not be optimal. David Vallner
