From: Todd Gillespie Date: 2001-09-11T21:20:04+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:21089] new ruby web environment I recently wrote an extension to nsd (AOLserver) to embed ruby evaluation. For those not familiar with nsd, it is a threaded webserver with a unified cache, DB handle pooling, a templating system, and a very powerful system of filters. I plan to expose all of these to Ruby. Right now I only have the Ns_Conn object exposed, to read out request info and write data back to the client. But both nsd & Ruby have been very friendly to extension writers, so... In the long term, well, the OpenACS guys have worked out calling methods written in Java or Python in Tcl -- we should get into some of that. An introduction to nsd can be found at http://www.arsdigita.com/asj/aolserver/introduction-1 The tarball for ns_ruby is at http://www.toddbrandlabs.com/code/. I hope to get Ns_Conn, Ns_DB, Ns_Info, and Ns_Cache finished by this weekend. Watch this space.
