Sorry if this is a FAQ. Just flame me then ;-))

Is is possible to convert a string to a Symbol?

instance_methods() return an array of string, but I need to pass the method
names to undef_method, which takes a symbol.

I looked through "Programming Ruby", but just found the other way (from
symbol to string).

I am using eval at the moment, but using eval() for something like that
seems to be bad style for me
