From: Albert Wagner Date: 2001-09-04T01:49:09+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:20790] singleton help I need some help with a singleton class. 1. With 'new' made private and replaced with 'instance', how do I properly pass in the arguments that would normally go to the 'initialize(...)' method via 'new'? Just use setter methods? 2. If I subclass a singleton class, then create an instance of that subclass, do I get the same instance with the additional behaviour of the subclass? These questions probably reveal my ignorance about singletons. Perhaps, a singleton is inappropriate for what I am trying to do. I need a single instance of a class that has the common and different behaviour associated with subclasses. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice and possibly URLs to additional info on singletons. Thanks ahead, Albert
