I tried:

xlApp.AddIns("Analysis ToolPak").Installed = true
xlApp.AddIns("Analysis ToolPak - VBA").Installed = true

but it didn't help.  somehow we need to force the addin to actually
load when creating the com object.

later...until we find the answer...
