It would be interesting to see what Ruby-isms could be concoted to handle GUI programming... One thought that comes to mind could be using nested arrays to handle widget layouts, instead of stitching objects together with calls. Or perhaps a class that looks like a directory tree (eg, similar to Tk's naming scheme when used in Tcl). What are some of the other ways of creating GUI interface? Someone mentioned how clean and simple the Amiga GUI was to program... does anyone know any details? What programming techniques used in creating a GUI could be more elegantly re-expressed with native Ruby constructs? Maybe the GUI could be wrapped around existing classes instead of adding more classes? A ListBox could be subclassed from Array, or mixed into an Array... -- spwhite@chariot.net.au
