Giles: I can't say anything about Japan. I was using the word "business" to
mean "corporate IT." Given that you make the distinction between
old-fashioned, hidebound corporate IT and other kinds of businesses, then I
can see the point you're making.
And you're probably right.

Would it be correct to characterize your thinking, to a first approximation,
as the following? "Corporate IT has no use for Ruby and Ruby has no use for
corporate IT. Everywhere else, Ruby is booming and will continue to do so."
