Subject: [ruby-talk:19626] Time before the "Big Bang"

I suppose this is a Unix question in a Ruby context:

How do we represent dates before the Creation of the Universe (Jan 1, 1970)?
I've been hacking on the Interbase driver, and discovered Ruby didn't 
like some dates in my database, because they were prior to 1970. 
 rb_time_new insists on positive numbers.  For now I'm flooring 
retrieved dates at zero, but this isn't really an acceptable long-term 
solution.
