Hmmmm ... an AOT is mentioned in the 2004 RubyConf slides (http://zenspider.com/dl/rubyconf2004/RubyConf2004_YARV_pub.pdf, slide 14 and the diagram on slide 15).[1] According to the diagram, the AOT will produce C source code.
