From: Clemens Wyss Date: 2001-08-08T21:57:38+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:19377] preemption Looks like Ruby (ruby 1.7.1 (2001-08-06) [i686-cygwin]) does not preemt the following long-running-thread: longrunThread = Thread.new { while true do print "." # sleep .1 end } print "the script won't get here!" UNLESS I put a "sleep" into the while-loop! Note: I do not have this behavior neither under "ruby 1.6.3 (2001-03-19) [i386-cygwin]", nor under "Ruby 1.7.0 (2001-04-02) [i586-linux]". A new (cygwin) bug? Clemens
