Subject: [ruby-talk:18980] a variable scope question

To me, in the following codes, line is declared in the begin ... end
block, how come it is still available outside of the block? Could anyone
give me some help in understanding this? Thanks a  lot.

begin
	line =5
	line += 1
end until line > 5
puts line ->6
