From: Brian Marick Date: 2001-08-02T02:23:14+09:00 Subject: [ruby-talk:18978] ANN: Ruby-trace 0.1.2 Ruby-trace is a library that makes you add code like this to your app: $trace.announce "Using alternate capability file '#{chosen}'." In return, you get messages like this: netapp.rb:13:in `initialize' = announce: Using alternate capability file 'alt.cap'. You get a lot of control about which messages are displayed, where they go, how they're formatted, etc. I've tried to make Ruby-trace like Ruby itself: simple things are simple, complex things are possible. The home page is here: There's a one-page blurb there, a pretty substantial user's guide, and zip/tar archives. As this is my first substantial Ruby application, please let me know if anything in it could be more idiomatically Ruby-like, as well as bugs, feature requests, roughness in the documentation, etc. I've only tested this against Ruby 1.6.3 on NT/cygwin. -- Brian Marick, marick@testing.com www.testing.com - Software testing services and resources www.testingcraft.com - Where software testers exchange techniques www.visibleworkings.com - Adequate understanding of system internals
