I'm a newbie, after not quite getting on friendly terms with Python
for some weeks, a couple of days ago I've began playing with Ruby and
fell completely in love with it.  My sincere congratulations to Matz
and to The Pragmatic Programmers for the incredible work.

I'm in a similar situation as the original poster of this thread.  I
run Debian (testing aka woody) with Ruby 1.6.3 and PostgreSQL 7.1.  I
have tried to compile libpgsql-ruby-0.6.4 by following the steps in
the README file, and this is the output of ``ruby extconf.rb'':

extconf.rb:6:in `require': No such file to load -- mkmf (LoadError)
	from extconf.rb:6

According to the README the version requirements are met, where should
'mkmf' be/where can I get it?
