Kev-

Don't get me started on the Rails usenet group. Its a wasteland.

Every time I browse there I consider it Outreach work.

It makes me shudder to realize that only about 1% of Rails programmers
actually understand programming. That is, I can code in pure Ruby one
hour, then switch over and use the same patterns and style in a website
application. Its absolutely wonderful in that way.

But, alas, 90% of the user base is completely ignorant of actual
effective programming.

It makes me understand why DHH hangs out here in comp.lang.ruby and not
the rails group. It would depress me if my baby was being abused so.
