Subject: [ruby-talk:18500] TCP problem under windows (again)


I've been messin' around with Windows and Ruby, and thought I'd try out
my little DRb thing before showing it to people. Well, that was a
mistake :)

I'm seeing two separate problems with the code:

1. If I run a server and two clients, after about 5 minutes it
   suddenly locks up: the server just stops sending.

2. If I kill a client, the server locks up. strace shows it's sitting
   on a select_stuff::wait.

I've tried this with 1.6.4 and it's DLL. I also downloaded the latest
cygwin (I think 1.3.2) and rebuilt Ruby from scratch: same problem.

I'm beginning to think that the first thing the Ruby windows
installation should do is format the hard drive and install
Linux.

Anyway, am I being stupid here? How should be go about resolving these
various networking problems under Windows?
