Agreed.  I really just wrote my code to see if I could do it and because
I figured I'd learn something about Ruby in the attempt, which was
definitely the case.

Even though I've written a lot of C++ and java code, I can't remember the
last time I wanted to overload a method to work differently when
different types of parameters were passed.  Mainly, I have seen cases
where some parameters have default values.

If nothing else, playing with this and discussing it on the ML has
pointed me at some articles on multi methods, which may or may not be of
value to me, but are definitely interesting.
