No, you shouldn't. If all goes well, tcltklib.so will be constructed during `make`. Ruby will load shared libraries as well as ruby-scripts, when in the path. When you do `make install` (perhaps after ./configure --prefix=/your/home/ to allow the installation as non-root), Ruby should search for tcltklib.so in the right place automatically. This should make your problem disappear.
