Like Time.gm(ParseDate.parsedate("Mon Jul 16 2001 GMT")) The problem lies in the timezone, I guess. I wonder if a module for parsing a string is necessary at all (instead of just allowing that in class Time), but you'll have your reasons. But Time.new("Mon Jul 16 15:56:56 GMT 2001") would do nicely for me.
