Subject: [ruby-talk:17765] File.size()


What does everyone think of making File.size an instance method as
well as a class method.  Similiar to how chmod works?

I thought it might already be there as File mixes in FileTest and it
has a size method, but it doesn't work:

% touch junker.txt
% irb
irb(main):001:0> file = File.new("junker.txt")
#<File:0x8198e84>
irb(main):002:0> p file.size
NameError: undefined method `size' for #<File:0x8198e84>
        from (irb):2
irb(main):003:0> p File.size("junker.txt")
0
nil
