There's a shall-not-be-named open source PHP-based project that we're trying to make patches to to contribute back -- unfortunately due to the overly-engineered size, inconsistency of source formatting, and other factors doing complicated patches breaks Darcs on some occasions (said PHP source quality could politely described as an "unholy demon abortion"). The git/cogito option is being explored only for this particular circumstance, but I thought I'd get some Rubyist's opinions on it for general purpose use.
