a few follow ups so i don't appear nasty, but rather helpful, cause,
y'know, Matz is nice.

- the language flame wars had a home at artima.com, but they purged a
lot of them, but they're cached on google.  Since you're trying to get
power/weight ratios (power is how good tools are, weight is how verbose
/intuitive the core and std libs for each language/framework are),
google the site for terms like duck typing, polymorphism, pass by
value/reference, you'll see that a lot of smart people can't agree on
anything

- ok, so that doesn't help, but I will tell you Alex Martelli has
credibility, and he isn't afraid to make recommendations on just this:

- if you go to your manager and say, ok our RFP got this short list,
each of these has ample case studies on the web and we read all of
them, you probably won't be accused of being bought off by a vendor:
Zope 3, another python framework, rails, ASP.NET,
hibernate/strut/spring, PHP, something in perl that's better than
slashdot.  IANAL, this isn't a binding recommendation, notwithstanding
the foregoing this list includes without exclusion stuff i know nothing
about, don't sue me.
