Three comments:

1. The idea of a block comment is somewhat 
appealing to me, but not essential.

2. I do like David Black's idea of #{ and } for
delimiters.

3. Some languages/compilers allow nesting of
comments, so that the C problem doesn't bite...
no reason we couldn't do that.
