This is just typical of latin speakers: They use something just because 
it sounds great not bothering to figure out what it means in the 
language it comes from.
Echidna means viper in greek and in the greek mythology, Echidna is the 
mother of among others Cerberus, Chimera and the Sphinx(and yes, all the 
others were monsters too).
Not very nice connotations with that name guys. Nope, it's not a spiny 
aardvark.
