I already abandoned the term "virtual class", and have removed the term from the CVS head. It still remains in 1.8 source just for compatibility. I am using the term "singleton class", and I will use it until we find the better term as I said in [ruby-talk:141548] 7 months ago in the famous Ilias thread. I'm not sure yet that "eigenclass" is the one, although it sounds cool. I think we can wait to see how it goes. matz.
