However, I heard a contradictory oppinion: I know an assoc. prof 
(researcher) at UC 
Berkeley who was formerly at Portland State Univ (where I'm finishing up my 
Masters).  He told me that while UCB is doing a lot of cutting edge research 
in certain fields,  he believed that students were actually better off at a 
smaller, less well-known school like PSU because at Berkeley the profs rarely 
teach.  You're taught by grad students at UCB and the profs are basically 
unapproachable.

Phil
