Wow, thanks! That's completely almost Ubuntu-specific, _and_ it won't affect 
portability!

Those of us who don't know are wondering where insiders get 1.8.4. It ain't 
on http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/20020102.html . I will go with 
stable-snapshot until advised.
