Except that gmail didn't always do that. It used to hide the "sent"
copy of your message when the other copy appeared in your inbox. A few
weeks ago, it stopped doing that, and now shows both copies.

When I noticed that it hid the "sent mail" copy way back when, I
thought it was very cool, and wished my regular email app was as smart
as that.
