If you have Ruby installed on a different drive letter - you will get a listing of that drive. If you put a different drive letter in your initialization, it make no difference to the returned result. The start directory specifier is ignoring the drive letter.. hence my comment, that it doesn't work on Windows. Try it - and prove me wrong :-)
