Depending on your range of problems and platform:

 J (www.jsoftware.com)
 FORTH (check Google)

Both are more for bending your mind and professional enjoyment than
"get stuff from a database and show it on the screen".  If that is 
your "joy", then stick to Ruby and Delphi (both excellent choices, BTW).
