You mean like AppleScript?

That's the problem with a cohesive unified scripting system--the single 
language/syntax will be a nasty one :-)

(In fact, the OSA architecture allows for the same script to be edited 
in multiple languages; but I don't think the vision ever came to pass. 
It was intended to allow, say, French people to write their AppleScript 
in French, but the principle would also theoretically work for editing 
an AppleScript using Ruby syntax.)
