Subject: [ruby-talk:15158] How do I catch unsuspecting errors:

Hi:

I would like to be able to catch unexpected errors
and get some type of information about them.

For example, if I could used begin..rescue..end I would do:

begin
  a = nil # setup an error
  a.each {|i| puts i}
rescue
  puts <information about this error. Maybe $!?>
end

But of course, rescue does not catch this type of error.
Is general error catching  possible in Ruby and if so,
can someone tell me how it is done.
