I've noticed that running Ruby on XP is significantly slower than on Linux.=

It looks to be primarily due to the initial startup stuff -- once it is up=

and running, it seems to run much closer to Linux speed.

Any suggestions for mitigating this? I'm using the One Click Installer from=
=20
rubyforge, and I've heard rumors that compiling the source yourself tends t=
o=20
result in a faster environment. Is there any truth to this?
