Subject: [ruby-talk:15120] threads and extensions

I'm playing with a multithreaded Ruby app that spends a lot of its time in
a C extension, and am unsure about how to handle things on the C
side:

Is explicitly using CHECK_INTS a good idea?
Does any rescheduling happen when using rb_funcall() to call back into ruby code?
What's the best way to do IO?

Any advice would be appreciated.
