I belive removing the need for commas or making them optional would also
go against some of the strong points of Ruby so far, since Ruby has so
very successfully taken great language constructs and made them more
traditional, such as the point about the strength of SmallTalk, but
filebased sourcecode and a calling convention that resembles most of the
mainstream languages. Breaking that last bit would probably hurt Ruby
acceptance and growth.

I also think that commas are a more intune with the
human-oriented-programming buzzword mentioned than whitespace, but that
may just be my personal affection for commas. (I used to get essays back
saying I had too many commas in school :-P)
