What we learn depends on many things, including - initial expectations, are we even in the right ball-park? - openmindedness, are we willing to hear other peoples interpretations? - ... So if we initially expected a little Ruby program to have the same performance characteristics as a roughly equivalent Java program, we learned quite a lot. (We don't all know the same things.)
