I'm not volunteering to write anything up, but implementing a Bayesian inference engine in Ruby sounds like the kind of task that would take a day or two. I'll look in Sussman and Abelson's /The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs/ (http://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/full-text/book/book.htm).
