Thank you for all the links. I've passed them on to the engineers in  
charge of this particular refactor. (Despite my love of Ruby, I'm not  
actually a programmer on the engineering team, so I only got involved  
in overhearing them talking and wanting to investigate how often  
hashing algorithms collide.)
